Each year, Chinese New Year Celebration is the focus of attention among the Chinese population, together with other Asian communities in Paris. On the occasion of the Year of China in France,the annual parade was held on the Champs Elysees and the Eiffel Tower sparkled in red during a week.
Following the anti-Chinese mass demonstrations during the passage of the Olympic flame on April 7th, 2008, the Chinese students organized a gathering at the Place of the Republique on April 19th to oppose the politicization of the Olympic Games and to show that the Chinese are different from what the French medias wanted to show at that time.
